It's such an interesting metaphor idea, going from "I'm an alien and I hide that to fit in but people don't like me because I'm still inherently different to them" to "wait everyone's an alien just trying to fit in like me - but they all still don't like me."

oh this is a fricking mood, my prom went kinda the same, tho to be fair i dont think many recognized me. my prom ended up being in the yearvof 2020 so right in the thick of covid, a bucnh of parents got together to host prom on someone's property. i had dressed up and died my hair a bright hot pink to match my dress, i thought i looked hot af(still do). i honestly cant remember if many others were wearing a mask at the time but i know i was and the few people i knew and were somewhat friendly with didn't want to talk with me. one guy i had a crush on DID recognized me but thought my aunt, who is only 2 years older than me and was kind enough to drive me to prom and stuck around, was my date. the dude brushed me off and pretty much refused to talk to me before i could explain. left early after that, ended up crying on the way home. but looking back im kinda gald it went that way, i got real friends i dont need any of those losers. also the guy in question was a fucking coward, three separate times i could count where the dude should have and could have stood up and said something about a bully and yet did jack shit.
